I worked with Meghan over the summer to create a look for her portrait business. Late last year, we worked together again to develop a logo and marketing pieces for the boudoir side of her business. We did something very classy and pulled in the black and pink from her portrait business to tie them together. Meghan is an absolute sweetheart and I’m so happy she decided to add boudoir to her business.
Speaking of boudoir, and this is where this post turns personal … so here goes! I’m sure you’ve all read lots of blogs about branding and thoughts on sharing the personal side of your life and being your brand. Some are for it, some aren’t. I am. I’m not JUST MadiLu Designs. I’m hundreds of different things and it’s all part of what makes me, well … me! I’m MadiLu Mom & Wife, MadiLu Cleaning Lady, MadiLu Crazy Comma User, MadiLu Nurse, MadiLu Friend, MadiLu the Bad Singer, MadiLu the Taxi. There’s also anti-laundry MadiLu. She’s fierce. Heck, I’m not really MadiLu (that’s another story). I’m Kim, but I love the emails that say “Dear MadiLu … ” because I’ll answer to that too.
Where was I? So … yes … on to the personal side of things and back to boudoir. Do you boudoir photographers realize what you’re doing? Seriously. Maybe you don’t realize this, but you are empowering women all over the world. You’re giving those women, myself included even though it’s a surprise, who may lack self esteem a little swing in their step. You’re making women feel comfortable in their own skin and realize that they’re truly beautiful. Every single one. Short, tall, skinny, not skinny, nice boobs, no boobs, pre-baby bodies, the I’ve had four babies kind of bodies! I would love to see the boudoir photography industry continue to grow. If you’re on the fence about having your own images done, do it. There’s really no reason to wait. You’re beautiful TODAY. If you’re considering adding boudoir photography to your business, you should definitely think about it. I can only imagine it would be incredibly rewarding. Huge kudos to all of you and a special thanks to Jodie and Katie at Fresh Art Photography for making me feel beauty full … or maybe not really me, because it’s a surprise, right?
All right … off to tackle a very long list of projects, the dreaded laundry pile and head to New Orleans. I’ll be at Imaging USA. I love to go to the Expo and find new print products and fun things for clients. Drop me a message on my Facebook page if you want me to check something out. Have a great weekend and as they say in the Big Easy, “Laissez le Bon temp rouler” or “Let the good times roll”!
