Last day of February. Can you believe that? I feel like the last half of the month has flown by. First things first … thank you to everyone who has been keeping my family in your prayers. Thank you for the sweet messages, the kind emails, the comments and posts. Thank you for taking time out of your day. I’m happy to share that my dad is doing wonderful! He was released from the hospital over the weekend. Last night I had a chance to Skype with him and he looks so good. He’s got a new ‘do … or lack of a ‘do … and a pretty nasty scar. My kids think it makes him look tough. 
It’s hard to believe a week ago he was in ICU and there was still a lot up in the air. What a strong guy! And my mom … bless her heart. She’s just as strong as he is. She’s been by his side the entire time. They will celebrate 42 years of marriage this year. I can only hope I’m as blessed! Again, thank you, thank you, thank you. Your prayers really helped during a very tough time. xx

I met with Jenny of Studio Simplicity when I was at Imaging. I was chugging my “Green Machine” and we were chatting about business. She also has a degree in design and we were talking about The Big Book of Logos and how it would be cool to put something like that together. It’s a great series of books for inspiration. I haven’t shared logos in a while. You’ll find my mini portfolio below.
Speaking of the “Green Machine“, I’ve been pumping more fruits and veggies and smoothies into my body than ever before. At the same time, I’ve felt like someone has been squeezing my head since Christmas. I kid you not, I can’t seem to shake it. Maybe I’m just wired to run on Diet Dr. Pepper and copious amounts of sugar.

When Amy asked if I’d be part of her giveaway over at Olive Juice Shoppe, I immediately said yes. Tick tock! Can you believe it’s the middle of December? I think I’m pretty darn close to being ready for the holidays, but that could change at any time. I always have grand ideas in my head how things will go down and inevitably I run out of time. I’d like to make my house a little more sparkly if possible.
Sharing the new logo and marketing pieces for the fabulous ladies of Calico Days Photography. Robin and Jodi are total sweethearts and so very easy to work with. I think it’s great when you can easily make decisions with a business partner and come up with something you love. They sent samples of things they liked and believe it or not, the colors came from a potholder they loved at Pier One. Super cool!

I hope everyone has been enjoying their weekend! So, I’ve done giveaways with hundreds of entries and then some with not so many. I’ll admit I felt a little silly when I saw the number of entries on this contest. However, it made it very easy to say EVERYONE wins and hoping that ups my cool factor a notch.
We’ve been perfecting number recognition skills with our preschooler. This was a great opportunity for my youngest to choose the winners via Bingo style! The winner of Exposed is B6 … Lauren … that’s you! Congrats!!

It’s been a bit since I’ve done a giveaway. This one is a little different. It’s something you can choose to keep for yourself or giveaway. If you’re in the photography industry, I’m sure you’ve heard the buzz about this new magazine. Jasmine Star’s magazine, Exposed, is 165 pages packed with all of her info and tips relating to photography and running a business. Congrats to Tish Hill on winning a year subscription to The Easy Accounting Solution for the Photographer! We put the names in a hat and my Sam drew Tish’s name. I’ll drop you an email Tish. Loved her quote, “because I’m an artist, not a business woman”. Amen to that!
Sharing Kim’s custom logo and set with you. She recently opened her studio in Oklahoma. We did a variety of pieces so she could cover families, seniors and weddings. It’s a fun range from funky to formal with a clean and simple logo. Lots of luck to you Kim!

One of our family rituals is to tell each other our good thing and bad thing for the day. The kids love it and it’s a great way to know what’s going on in school and how things are with teachers and friends. It’s also a good way to find out they hate what you’ve cooked because my dinner menu is a frequent topic of conversation.
It’s also a ritual you can apply to your business. What good thing took place while you worked today? What was your bad thing? Accounting is usually at the top of my list … hands down. I’m not a numbers girl so I have a great amount of respect for those who are. There are also really great people who can make life a little easier. Four days into May … you’ve got to be kidding! It doesn’t seem possible, most likely because we haven’t had much in the way of spring weather. The kids are counting down to summer vacation. Only 13 days of school left. It’s hard to believe my Kindergarten Sam will soon be in first grade.
Sharing a couple of things today. I’ve got quite a few logos and sets I’m excited about uploading … all in due time! Today is Nina’s new set and logo. I was pretty excited about this one. I like the feel of the darker, bolder colors. I like that the logo is different, but still clean and simple. The fact that we subtly tied in the 5o9 makes it that much cooler! Nina is an absolute sweetheart. Wishing you much success girl!
Next on the agenda … the giveaway at Inside the Locker. I should have posted this earlier in the week but I’ve had a sick one since Sunday. I always worry that you’ll find random Sponge Bob or Dora shout-outs in my text when the kids are in my office. Anyway, if you’re shooting seniors and haven’t looked at this site … do it! Welcome to Thursday! It’s one of those days where the caffeine drip is installed and my thoughts are moving way faster than my hands. I survived a full 15 minutes of a Jillian Michael’s DVD last night and I swear even my eyebrows are sore. It’s all good! Let’s do something fun!
I reached the 2000 fans/likers mark on Facebook. Kind of crazy! I was trying to come up with a fun giveaway and honestly felt a little torn. I’m sure most of you are familiar with the devastating storms that have destroyed so many homes and businesses in our country this week. My heart breaks for these families. We were very lucky in St. Louis in that no one was seriously injured, but there is significant damage in the area. The destruction and loss of lives in the southern states is simply awful. I’ve been thinking of my clients in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. My prayers are with you and your families.
Here’s what I’d like to do. This will be a quickie. Deadline is tomorrow morning … April 29, 10:00 CST.
